Fort Myers, we have arrived.

Ugh, 4 a.m. wake-ups suck, especially when the hotel changes our room and forgets to change the room for the wake-up.  Those poor sots in 236 got a rude awakening!

Anyways, we woke up at 4 a.m. and ran out to Denny’s next door at 4:20.  We got done right on time to make the 5:30 shuttle.  By the way, I love being the spouse of an airline employee.  $39 hotel rooms rock!

We had to make the second flight out of Orlando to Fort Myers, but we arrived at the airport along with all our (cow) luggage.  We had reserved a mid-size car with Alamo, a decision I was initially concerned about with our seven pieces of luggage, but we found the Chevy HHR.  By folding down one of the rear seats, we were able to easily fit our luggage and have room for the rest of us.

After the usual marital bickering about what the borrowed Magellan said and what the map really said, we arrived at our hotel with a minimum of detours.  We had reserved a room with 2 double beds and a small kitchenette, but we encountered a minor problem when kiddo used the restroom (it overflowed).  My wife went downstairs and asked if we could possibly get another room, to which they upgraded us to a suite with a separate bedroom and sofa sleeper, at no charge!  The staff was more than helpful and the Tiki Bar was an interesting diversion.

We went to the beach shortly after sunset.  The gulf water is very warm, but the waves are small.  We can’t wait to get in the water.
